It’s spring cleaning season, so it might be time to think about cleaning your garage. Here are some easy tips for neatening up your garage that will help you tidy up after a winter of gathering dust.
Empty it out
We stick all kinds of things in the garage, and it’s easy to forget what’s actually in there. The first step to getting your garage clean and organized is to take everything out and sort through it to find out what you actually want to keep.
Make keep and toss piles
Make separate piles for items you know you want to keep, items to throw away because they’re no longer usable, things you want to sell, and things you don’t need but can be donated. Only keep things you use regularly, tools, and sentimental things you can’t part with.
Clean the garage
Over time, dust and cobwebs and dirt from outside can build up in your garage, which is bad for the stuff in your garage, your car, and your nose. While everything is pulled out of the garage, sweep, scrub the floors, and dust all the nooks and crannies to get it nice and clean.
Now that the shelves and floor are clean, it’s time to get organized. Group items together that are for similar tasks, like yardwork tools or car maintenance supplies, so you know where to go to find them. Keep items that are sensitive to weather in cabinets or plastic totes, and put the stuff you use most often in easy reach.
And once the garage is nice and neat, don’t forget to take your car to the dealership for a checkup at Ed Murdock Chrysler Dodge Jeep® Ram to get it back in shape after it’s been sitting all winter long.
